Avoided Deforestation Map on Google Earth

The Avoided Deforestation Map shows the amount of carbon emitted by baseline deforestation from 2000 until 2100. This amount was calculated using a forest biomass map described in Silva Fennica 42(3): 387–396 and estimating the deforestation pressure. The deforestation pressure was driven by competing landuse from agriculture.

Details can be read in Carbon Balance and Management 2006, 1:15

To view the map in Google Earth (GE), please download the file below:

  • Avoided deforestation Google Earth Format (.kmz)

Clicking on the above link should open in Google Earth (if *kmz-files are associated with GE in your PC) and should display the map on the 3D globe automatically.
