Role of Partners

Our consortium consists of 16 multi-disciplinary partners. The project is only possible by bringing together a critical mass of internationally recognised researchers from different disciplines. The team covers the broad fields of climatology, agricultural sciences, forest science, energy engineering, economics& political sciences, statistics, mathematics, informatics and geo-science. The consortium members are scientifically well connected internationally and hold key position in the fourth assessment report of the IPCC (UNIABDN, UHAM, IIASA, JR, MPI, NIES) and are leading internationally coordinated science projects inter alia under the IGBP-IHDP-WCRP-DIVERSITAS global science program. Consortium members have also published on the topic of mitigation and adaptation to climate change in top journals like Nature, Science or PNAS with many other international co-authors.

At the same time the consortium members have very close links or are directly involved as scientific expert in a number of policy or decision making processes linked to the topic of climate change and land-use. CC-TAME partners are also members of the European Consortium for Modelling of Air Pollution and Climate Strategies and are thus providing the necessary scientific and economic analyses for the revision of the Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution and the European Climate Change Programme. In this way, knowledge created during the CC-TAME project will be directly informing the key land use related climate policy processes on European scales and internationally.
The team has a good spread of institutions: 12 research agencies (all are involved also in policy making), and 5 universities. The work plan illustrates that every partner has specific responsibilities spread over several work packages within the project. With this cross-linkage of shared responsibilities we ensure that the project is a real collaborative effort across a wide spectrum of disciplines. At the same time, a rigorous and central management structure is in place to ensure scientific success and timely delivery of scientific and economic analysis to the policy process. An external international Scientific Peer Group and Policy Advisory board is implemented as critical observer and advisor of the performance and strategy of the generated decision making products and the linking of these products to the climate policy models.
